A Flaming Head?

Ok - so it wasn't exactly a flaming head... in actuality it was a flaming sword ON my head - and it was *cool*. Fire practice happened last night, and since Fred made me a belly dancing scimitar with a removable wick, I decided that I really wanted to light it and see what happened.

Yesterday was a very activity-filled day. Michelle and her friend Taz came over and we started up with some basic-basic belly dance moves - mostly isolations and arm moves, after some good stretching. Then we hopped into the pool and cooled off for about an hour, and they left. It was a LOT of fun - I haven't actually belly-danced for a good 4 years, but it felt good to actually *do* something with my body and feel my muscles vaguely complaining about it afterwards. LOL.

Mana showed up around 8-ish and we headed down to the fire practice area, under a bridge downtown, to set up and have some fun. Prior to having Michelle and Taz stop by, I'd been practicing doing turns and with the sword on my head, forehead and chin, as well as starting to learn how to turn it around on my hand rather akin to knife-dancing.

Both Mana and Fred got some fabu shots of the sword, lit, on my head and then on my chin. Mana also got photos of me setting my skin on fire as I learned some basic skin transfers last night. I took it easy, as I am still learning to deal with white gas and while I didn't panic, I could feel it starting to edge forward, so felt it best to stop while I was still able to control it - instead of allowing it to control me. After I calmed down for a bit, I went back out for one more round with the fire sword on my head, and that was it. Didn't breathe fire - wasn't in the right headspace for it - but that's ok. I'm still into it, just need to be in a better headspace where I'm able to concentrate on it fully. Not used to dealing with volatile chemicals that could, possibly kill me if I don't have my full concentration on them.

Vlad showed up as well, which was VERY cool. He got a couple shots of me with the sword on my head using his camera phone. He's going to post them up on his MySpace as soon as he can get up. LOL.

The only downer last night was around 2 am Fred woke me up rushing around the bedroom frantically. I'd been so dead-tired I hadn't heard the commotion of things suddenly dropping, and then the frantic yowling of the cat. The bad part, he couldn't find the cat. He searched frantically around the room for the cat until he finally found her sandwiched between the wall and my highboy dresser, struggling to get out and forcing herself further and further down (which meant she was further and further squishing herself). He got her out, finally, and pulled her to safety, and she spent a good half-hour under the covers snuggled up next to her savior. I woke up this morning and found she'd spent the rest of the night snuggled between the two of us, at the shoulder. We figure that for some reason, she'd decided she needed to snuggle up to the stack of porn dvd's we have on my highboy - and then she rolled off since there's about a 4" gap between the back of the highboy and the wall - it gets progressively smaller as it goes down. *shakes head* I love my cat, but I have to wonder where she gets her ideas, sometimes... She's also been sleeping on the printer tray.

So, as of this morning, she was very hungry, and still very clingy to the both of us. I'm hoping she'll remember her ordeal and NOT do that again - especially when we're not home. That would be very, very bad.
